Safety inspection

  • Engine oil and oil filter change. Engine oil loses its effectiveness over time; it needs to be replaced to extend engine life. Older cars often need natural oils rather than synthetic oils.
  • Check and adjust drive belt tension. Drive belts operation, fans, power steering and air conditioning. Loose or slipping drive belts can result in loud squealing and engine failure.
  • Check and clean spark plugs. (If applicable). Spark plugs need to be checked for excessive carbon deposits, oil and oxidation, which can highlight other problems in the engine.
  • Check and top up automatic transmission fluid level. Excessive reductions in transmission fluid can mean other elements of the transmission system may need examination and replacement.
  • Check and top-up power steering fluid,
  • Check wear on brake pads. Obtain brake pads that are appropriate for your vehicle and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Inspect brake hydraulic system hoses and pipes for leakages and corrosion,
  • Inspect fuel line filter. A common problem in old cars occurs when the sediment at the bottom of the fuel tank flows through the fuel lines and clogs the fuel filter.
  • Inspect tires for tread wear and damage. Extend the life of your car’s tires by regular rotation of the tires. , as this can also indicate other problems in the vehicle such as suspension, steering and wheel balancing
  • Visual check of windscreen wipers, Load test battery, charging system, exhaust condition, anti-freeze levels and windscreen washer levels test Drive.

Auto transmission Service

TUNE-UP PROCEDURE

  • Check visual appearance of spark plugs: are they worn? What color are the insulator firing noses?
  • Test the performance of spark plugs. What color is the spark? Is the spark properly igniting the fuel?
  • Check spark plug wires to make sure they are not hard or cracked.
  • Check the fuel filter to make sure it isn’t clogged or dirty.
  • Check the engine’s fuel pump for proper function.
  • Inspect the engine’s fuel injectors to make sure dirt or other deposits are not restricting the amount of fuel that can be delivered to the engine.
  • Make sure fuel injector buildup isn’t affecting how the spark plugs fire.
  • Adjust the engine timing and idle if necessary.
  • Check that the PCV valve isn’t clogged or leaking.
  • Clean throttle body if necessary.

(Please note some vehicles will require analysis of more engine components than those listed above.)
